Career as a Soloist Performer

The music career of Maceo Parker as a soloist performer really did well. Through his experience with famous saxophone players like James Brown, he used it to form his own style of playing the instrument. Other saxophonists whom he admired include Hank Crawford and King Curtis. As he continued to work with famous leaders of funk music, there were many audience who started to admire his own sound. And he also had a great opportunity to release his own albums entitled "Roots Revisited" and "Mo' Roots".

Fans of funk music admired him more through his third solo album entitled "Life on Planet Groove". He had his music tour to many different places around the world. His music became a mixture of funk music and jazz music which made it quite unique. He also received an award which only proves that many admired his music even when he was just a sideman. He joined in some groundbreaking tours of some music bands and performed as a special guest and performer too.

Other albums of him which became famous were "Funk Overload", "Dial  M-A-C-E-O", and "Made by Maceo". As a musician, he also had his dreams and one of those dreams which came true is to work with a Big Band. It is the WDR Big Band that helped him achieve his dream. Another album was released entitled "Roots and Grooves". He had received a lot of awards such as the Icon Award. He was known as a music-maker and a world-class performer, a very talented musician.
